✧･ﾟ*₊˚ hey guys! it’s me alexi / alex, and today i’ll be talking about how to curb phone addiction in 2020; and how to turn your phone from addictive to productive!
✧･ﾟ*₊˚ today, phones can be very addicting, what with tiktok, youtube, netflix, instagram, and other addicting sites and apps. however, the more time we spend on our phones, the less time we spend in the real world, and the less time we spend being productive. remember, “time is an expense you can only spend once” — use it carefully!
✧･ﾟ*₊˚ so, without further ado, here’s the list of ways you can help stop being so addicted to your phone! ( these tips also apply to gadgets like laptops / tablets / computers! )
ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
✧･ﾟ*₊˚ one: turn off as MANY push-notifications as possible! ok, so this may seem difficult for perfectionists and people who love to be in control of every aspect in their life, but let’s be honest here: you don’t need to know every single like or retweet that your latest tweet gets, or how many people have liked your most recent instagram picture.
a simple way to help reduce distractions and focus on tasks is to turn off notifications for unnecessary apps! i only activate notifications for my texting apps, calendar, and my email. that way, you can focus on studying! (*´꒳`*)
✧･ﾟ*₊˚ two: turn on grayscale! in my experience, this tip is very successful at keeping off addictive games and social media! though, you might need to turn it off every once in a while to take photos, use maps, etc. though, the dark shades make colorful applications look less appealing! (｡･ω･｡)
✧･ﾟ*₊˚ three: use an app to track your progress and stay productive! apps like forest (99.00 philippine pesos on apple, free for android) and flipd (free, in-app purchases available) help you stay responsible for how much time you spend on your phone.
fun and modern checklists like productive – habit tracker (free, in-app purchases available), and ticktick: remember to do lists (free, in-app purchases available) assist you in remembering your daily tasks!
my personal favorite is habitica: gamified taskmanager (free, in-app purchases available), because it offers both apps and websites, and “makes it simple to have fun while accomplishing goals.” you get to have your very own adorable avatar, battle monsters, and level up while accomplishing tasks!
additionally, if you have an iphone / ipad, an option called “screen time” is available, and it helps schedule downtime ( time away from your iphone ), set app limits ( time limits for apps ), assign communication limits ( limit who you contact ), and add content restrictions ( this helps you block inappropriate content )! ٩( ‘ω’ )و
✧･ﾟ*₊˚ four: remove distracting apps entirely! keep the apps that promote productivity, learning and eduction ( with a few games here and there, live a little of course! ), and remove time-wasting apps entirely, like social media. you could even delete apps like instagram or twitter, and use your phone’s web browser to use social media instead.
✧･ﾟ*₊˚ that’s in for this blog post! if you haven’t done so already and would like to see more posts like this, follow this blog via email using the widget available, or via your wordpress account! have a nice day/night, bye! 🌷✧･ﾟ*₊˚
